"The Virginia Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators is an inclusive organization that seeks to invite the involvement of multiple constituencies interested in promoting: (1) the professional development of pre-service and inservice teachers, and (2) school/university partnerships that enhance PreK-12 student learning and well-being: education and arts and sciences faculty and administrators in community colleges and colleges and universities; PreK-12 school-based clinical faculty and administrators; legislators and members of state departments; and teacher education candidates."

Executive Board Information

The Executive Board is composed of the five officers (President, President-Elect, Past-President, Secretary, and Treasurer); the Secretary-Elect and the Treasurer-Elect; the Executive Director; appointed co-chairs of the standing committees (Awards, Communications, Conference Planning, Journal Editors, Nominations and Elections, Virginia Education Assessment Collaborative); a representative of each Executive Board-designated special interest group, and the institution, agency and association representatives defined in Article V, Section 3 of the VACTE constitution.

Members of the Executive Board shall, to the extent possible, represent diversity in terms of cultural diversity, institutional size, disciplinary area/grade level expertise, superintendent regions within the commonwealth, and public/private designation.
No more than two representatives from a given institution may serve on the Executive Board concurrently.
All members of the Executive Board must hold individual membership in VACTE or represent a VACTE institution in good standing.
Co-chairs of standing committees are selected for staggered, renewable three-year terms.
The Executive Board and the Leadership Team (President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Director, and Conference Co-Chairs) shall each meet at least four times per year.

The officers (President, President-Elect, President, Secretary, and Treasurer), Executive Director, and standing committee chairs shall be voting members of the Executive Board.
Representatives of special interest groups, institutions, agencies, and associations shall be non-voting members.
